Host to local team Hércules CF, Estadio José Rico Pérez is a multi-purpose stadium in Alicante. Built in 1974, it is named after the former chairmman of Hércules CF. Used mainly for football, the venue was used to help host World Cup 1982.

The Estadio José Rico Pérez hosted three World Cup matches in 1982. Two were Group 3 first round games, and the other was the third place decider between Poland and France.
