Stanford Stadium

Stanford Stadium

Located in Stanford University campus, Stanford Stadium is the home ground for the Stanford Cardinal College football team. It has been host to major sporting events including Super Bowl XIX and the international soccer matches during the 1984 Summer Olympics.

For World Cup 1994, Stanford Stadium was used to host six matches.

Capacity: 80,906

Construction: Built in 1921, Stanford Stadium has been upgraded several times prior to World Cup 1994 giving capacity in excess of 80,000 seats. It has been further developed since 1994, removing the race track around the field.

Matches: Brazil 2 : 0 Russia (June 20), Brazil 3 : 0 Cameroon (June 24), Switzerland 0 : 3 Colombia (June 26), Russia 6 : 1 Cameroon (June 28), Brazil 1 : 0 USA (July 4) and a quarter-final on July 9 - Romania 2 : 2 Sweden [Sweden won 5 - 4 on penalties]


World Cup 1994 Venues : Rose Bowl, Pontiac Silverdome, Stanford Stadium, Giants Stadium, Citrus Bowl, Soldier Field, Cotton Bowl, Foxboro Stadium and Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium.
