Beira-Rio Stadium

The Beira-Rio Stadium is sometimes known as Estádio José Pinheiro Borda in memory of the Portuguese engineer who supervised the building of the stadium, but died before its completion.

Estádio Beira-Rio is the home stadium of Sport Club Internacional. It replaced their previous stadium, the Estádio dos Eucaliptos.


Location: Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul

Capacity: 51,300

Construction: Renovation started in December 2012, estimated to take 12 months to complete. After successful completion, the stadium hosted a match on February 15, 2014 between Internacional and local rivals, Caxias.

Matches: France 3 : 0 Honduras (June 15), Australia 2 : 3 Netherlands (June 18), South Korea 2 : 4 Algeria (June 22), Nigeria 2 : 3 Argentina (June 25) and Germany 2 : 1 Algeria (June 30).
