The Al-Wakrah Stadium was the first of the new stadiums for World Cup 2022 to have its design unveiled. Its proposed appearance has caused some controversy. It is said to resemble the sails of a dhow boat, but many think it looks like something a little different, referring to it as the 'vagina stadium'.
Situated in Al-Wakrah, the new state-of-the-art venue will host up to 40,000 fans. After the World Cup it will become home to Al-Wakrah Sports Club and capacity will be reduced to 20,000. The excess seating will be donated to developing nations.
