Khalifa International Stadium
The Khalifa International Stadium is named after the former Emir of Qatar, Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani. It is a multi-purpose stadium, having hosted athletics events and the 2006 Asian Games. However, its main purpose is as a football venue, and is currently home to the Qatar national team. With a capacity of 40,000, it is large enough for use in World Cup Finals.
Construction: Built in 1976, the Khalifa International Stadium has been renovated twice, in 2005 and 2014 - 2017.
